Girls survive tent drama
TWO girls are lucky to be alive after a vehicle crushed a tent in a Gayndah caravan park on Sunday night.
The girl who occupied the crushed tent was in another girl’s tent only metres away at the time.
Police allege that the vehicle “repeatedly” ran over the tent in the Riverview Caravan Park at 11.30pm.
Police have charged a 26-year-old man from the United Kingdom with dangerous operation of a vehicle.
Gayndah Police said no one was in the tent and no one was hurt.
Senior Constable Wyatt Telford said the suspect was known to the occupants of the tent, but was not a customer of the caravan park.
“The girl residing in that tent had been staying with a friend nearby,” Snr Const Telford said.
“The vehicle has been seized for mechanical inspections.”
The man is on bail, scheduled to appear in Gayndah Magistrate Court on May 23.
