TALKING TOWNSHIPS

Central and North Burnett Times - - OPINION -

MONTO Community Development Council Inc. is now under new management.

Over many years we have seen a number of services withdrawn from our community.

As a social services delivery organisation, the new committee is determined to reverse that trend.

Already, discussions have been held on projects that will benefit our community.

The existing services are also working to evaluate how best they can grow their services.

The new council has also made contact with similar organisations to ascertain how best we can bring some of their services we love, to our community.

As the new president, I am endeavouring to meet with representatives of the present funding bodies, to discuss if we can in any way extend existing services.

We realise that access to funding at this point in time is difficult; however, we must try by ensuring that our projects have community support and of benefit to all.

By working with our local press representative, it is our intention to keep the community informed on the progress of our activities.

With 10 years behind me as president of this organisation, I wish to involve all of the com- munity in the delivery of our social service needs.

Whether as an individual, or a member of a group, sporting or otherwise, we must now work to ensure a bright future for our children.

If we can be of assistance, please contact the Neighbourhood Centre and talk to our staff.

We may not fix all, but it won’t be for the want of trying. Dolores M. Fowler President
