Time to built on strengths in agriculture exports

Central and North Burnett Times - - OPINION -

WE NEED to unleash the real economic potential in our agricultural industry by removing impediments holding the sector back and by supporting industry in its efforts to be more productive and globally competitive.

We need to build on our comparative strength in food production and better manage our precious water resources to help our agriculture sector become the “food bowl of Asia” and achieve “food security” in a world demanding more of our food resources.

We need to support our fishing industry, as the people that depend on it know best how to manage the resource in a responsible and sustainable way.

Critically with the timelines involved in our agricultural sector, Government needs to provide proactive and supportive policy stability and certainty to our live exports trade. Kerry Latter, Mackay
