Steers crack 166.2c at Biggenden
MEATWORKS cattle sold to a mostly dearer market at Monday’s Burnett Livestock& Realty’s meatworks and store sale at Biggenden.
Bullocks topped at 143.2c to average two to five cents dearer. Cows over 500kg topped at the same price as the previous sale but averaged 12c cheaper, while cows under 500kg averaged three to five cents dearer. Trade heifers also topped at similar prices to last sale but quality over all was less and they averaged 11c cheaper.
Heavy bulls again sold strongly, with the lead topping at 162.2c and averaging five cents dearer.
Feeder steers 400–500kg sold to a cheaper market, averaging five cents cheaper. Steers 300–400kg topped at 155.2c, eight cents higher than the previous sale but averaged nine cents cheaper overall. Weaner steers topped at 168.2c, much dearer than last sale and averaged four to 12c dearer. Feeder heifers over 300kg topped at 145c to be firm on last sale. Heifers 200–300kg and heifers under 200kg were still hard to market, averaging firm to five cents cheaper. Seventy cows and calves topped at $660.
Ayarding of 1203 head was drawn from Eids- vold, Mundubbera, Mt Perry, Gayndah, Goomeri, Thinoomba, Burrum Heads, Beelbi Creek, Childers, Bundaberg, Burnett Heads, South Kolan, Bucca, Lowmead, Gaeta, Gin Gin, Booyal and all local areas.
Cosmetic Manufacturers PL, Bucca sold droughtmaster bullocks to top at 143.2c or $998. PW & SJ Ilett, Apple Tree Creek sold four to eight tooth limousin cross bullocks for 141.2c or $815. The McMeekin family, Biggenden sold brahman cross bullocks to top at 140.2c or $908. RC Wondrock, Bundaberg sold charbray cows for 115.2c or $668. NB & BJ Stevens, Morganville sold brahman cross cows for 113.2c or $580. Droughtmaster cows on account of BK & DB Cislowski, Lowmead sold for 138.2c or $667. Law & CL Day, Gin Gin sold a limousin bull for 162.2c or $1217.
D Lamont, Bundaberg sold milk and two tooth brahman cross steers for 134.2c or $639. M Jones, Mt Perry sold droughtmaster milk tooth steers for 155.2c or $619. The Myers family, South Kolan sold charbray weaner steers for 168.2c or $440. Santa gertrudis cross steers on account of DL & AE Taylor, Goomeri sold 150–166.2c or $411–$533.
Paul Betts, Gin Gin sold belmont red milk tooth heifers to top at 139.2c or $510. J Booth, Monduran sold charolais cross heifers for 133.2c or $470. GJ Bernie, Byrnestown sold angus cross weaner heifers for 130.2c or $373. A & VE McIntyre, Gin Gin sold simmental cross heifers to top at 145c or $442.
