Steers crack 166.2c at Biggenden

MEAT­WORKS cat­tle sold to a mostly dearer mar­ket at Mon­day’s Bur­nett Live­stock& Realty’s meat­works and store sale at Biggenden.

Bul­locks topped at 143.2c to aver­age two to five cents dearer. Cows over 500kg topped at the same price as the pre­vi­ous sale but av­er­aged 12c cheaper, while cows un­der 500kg av­er­aged three to five cents dearer. Trade heifers also topped at sim­i­lar prices to last sale but qual­ity over all was less and they av­er­aged 11c cheaper.

Heavy bulls again sold strongly, with the lead top­ping at 162.2c and av­er­ag­ing five cents dearer.

Feeder steers 400–500kg sold to a cheaper mar­ket, av­er­ag­ing five cents cheaper. Steers 300–400kg topped at 155.2c, eight cents higher than the pre­vi­ous sale but av­er­aged nine cents cheaper over­all. Weaner steers topped at 168.2c, much dearer than last sale and av­er­aged four to 12c dearer. Feeder heifers over 300kg topped at 145c to be firm on last sale. Heifers 200–300kg and heifers un­der 200kg were still hard to mar­ket, av­er­ag­ing firm to five cents cheaper. Seventy cows and calves topped at $660.

Ayard­ing of 1203 head was drawn from Eids- vold, Mun­dub­bera, Mt Perry, Gayn­dah, Goomeri, Thi­noomba, Bur­rum Heads, Beelbi Creek, Childers, Bund­aberg, Bur­nett Heads, South Kolan, Bucca, Lowmead, Gaeta, Gin Gin, Booyal and all lo­cal ar­eas.

Cos­metic Man­u­fac­tur­ers PL, Bucca sold drought­mas­ter bul­locks to top at 143.2c or $998. PW & SJ Ilett, Ap­ple Tree Creek sold four to eight tooth li­mousin cross bul­locks for 141.2c or $815. The McMeekin fam­ily, Biggenden sold brah­man cross bul­locks to top at 140.2c or $908. RC Won­drock, Bund­aberg sold char­bray cows for 115.2c or $668. NB & BJ Stevens, Mor­ganville sold brah­man cross cows for 113.2c or $580. Drought­mas­ter cows on ac­count of BK & DB Cis­lowski, Lowmead sold for 138.2c or $667. Law & CL Day, Gin Gin sold a li­mousin bull for 162.2c or $1217.

D La­mont, Bund­aberg sold milk and two tooth brah­man cross steers for 134.2c or $639. M Jones, Mt Perry sold drought­mas­ter milk tooth steers for 155.2c or $619. The My­ers fam­ily, South Kolan sold char­bray weaner steers for 168.2c or $440. Santa gertrudis cross steers on ac­count of DL & AE Tay­lor, Goomeri sold 150–166.2c or $411–$533.

Paul Betts, Gin Gin sold bel­mont red milk tooth heifers to top at 139.2c or $510. J Booth, Mon­duran sold charo­lais cross heifers for 133.2c or $470. GJ Bernie, Byrnestown sold an­gus cross weaner heifers for 130.2c or $373. A & VE McIn­tyre, Gin Gin sold sim­men­tal cross heifers to top at 145c or $442.
