BUR­NETT Dis­trict Men’s and Ladies’ Bowl­ing As­so­ci­a­tion was rep­re­sented at the re­cent State Dis­trict Sides com­pe­ti­tion held on the Sun­shine Coast.

North­ern end Bur­nett women Bron­wyn Tor­rens, Anne Faulkner, Nola Dar­ling­ton, Chris Pry­goda, Taleah Put­ney and man­ager Helen Walker were part of the side.

The Bur­nett Dis­trict women played in Sec­tion B for the first three days at Caloun­dra Bowls Club, qual­i­fy­ing fifth (from 10) and win­ning a po­si­tion in the fi­nals of Di­vi­sion 3 of the state comp.

This year has seen the best plac­ing for the Bur­nett Dis­trict Ladies As­so­ci­a­tion since par­tic­i­pat­ing in the state com­pe­ti­tion.

Play at Ma­roochy­dore saw Bris­bane North Dis­trict win the Di­vi­sion 3 tro­phy.

Other Bur­nett Dis­trict women were rep­re­sented by Kin­garoy, Mur­gon, Tansey and Pros­ton clubs.

The dis­trict team was very happy with its fi­nal po­si­tion this year.

Bur­nett Dis­trict Men’s As­so­ci­a­tion team in­cluded play­ers from the north­ern end of the dis­trict, in­clud­ing Barry Woodall, Brad Kielly, Nev Wil­liams, Mark Tor­rens, Steve Meier, Ash­ley Har­ris and Brian Pry­goda.

The men’s team played at Coolum Beach and gained a Di­vi­sion 4 place in the fi­nal.

They played at Caloun­dra the next day and the di­vi­sion was won by Gate­way Dis­trict.

Other Bur­nett Dis­trict team mem­bers were rep­re­sented in teams from Kin­garoy, Mur­gon, Tansey, Wondai and Pros­ton.

Monto’s Brad Kielly said he “absolutely loved” the ex­pe­ri­ence, good bowls, com­pe­ti­tion and meet­ing play­ers from all over the state.

BUR­NETT BOWLERS: Monto bowlers Brad Kielly, Mark Tor­rens, Rod­ney Ride­out and Barry Woodall com­peted at the state cham­pi­onships (Ash­ley Har­ris, Steve Meyer, Bryan Pry­goda and Neville Wil­liams were the other North Bur­nett bowlers, while Rod­ney Ride­out rep­re­sented Bund­aberg-Port Cur­tis).
