Volunteers at the heart of rural Australia
OF THE many things that differentiate rural communities from their city counterparts, one that stands out is volunteers.
It is fair to say those of us who live in rural Australia know if we want something to happen it is up to us.
A classic example was at the weekend when I attended the wonderful goodwill games at Abercorn State School then briefly dropped by a tournament at Monto Bowls Club before finishing with the Monto Rugby League home game.
The common thread among these different events was the tireless work of volunteers.
