Eagles take flight over the Roosters

Central and North Burnett Times - - SPORT -

THEODORE Roosters hit the Eidsvold field running on Saturday with an early converted try to Travis Anderson but the Eagles played with enthusiasm and managed a 32-30 win.

After Theodore’s Shane Hooper added another four points to the visitor’s score, Eidsvold hit back with tries to Stanley Bligh and Cassius Collins, one of which Bligh converted and the scores were level on 10-10.

An unconverted try to Theodore’s Eben Norris and a converted one to Eidsvold’s Bert Beezley meant the teams went to the half-time break with the Eagles two points ahead.

Beginning with a converted try to Eidsvold’s Jason Bligh, the teams took turns crossing each other’s lines in the closely contested second half.

Beezley crossed again as did Damian Jenkins and Collins added two points with a successful kick for goal.

Second half try scorers for Theodore were: Nathan Braden, Hooper, Justin Anderson and Hughes converted the first two.

A successful conversion of Anderson’s try would have levelled the scores at 32-32 but the kick narrowly missed, handing the game to the Eagles.
