Using pedal power to raise vital funds
MONTO Fire Station cycling trio Marty Harm, Greg Barnett and Justin Hiscock have returned from Bikes4Burns.
The three super fit riders covered a total distance of 1850km and raised money through raffles in Monto and each town on the route.
The funds are in aid of children’s burns research at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Brisbane.
Marty Harm said all three were proud of their efforts but were pleased to be home and relaxed.
“We will definitely attempt this next year; it is a good self challenge and it is money raised for a good cause,” Mr Harm said.
“The hills really took it out of us, particularly Mt Mee with a 15 degree incline.
“So after all that, reaching the finish line was the best feeling.”
The Bikes4Burns route started at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, went out to Gayndah and returned.
