Orange fest just around the corner

Central and North Burnett Times - - AROUND TOWN -

CONGRATULATIONS to Caitlin Ouston on being awarded the crown for Orange Festival Queen.

The competition was of the highest level and every entrant was a winner.

In the words of the judges: “What a great line-up of wonderful young women.”

The Orange Festival ball was well patronised, as usual, and was a great event. Full marks to all involved. This event followed on from the Bush Spirit Festival in Eidsvold which was a tremendous success and a great indication of the many entertainers that relate to country living.

The Friends of RM Williams produced an excellent program and the photographic competition was of the usual highest level.

The North Burnett Council has been successful in having Shane Webcke attend the Gayndah Orange Festival.

Shane has accepted a role as Ambassador for the Queensland Local Government Association and, as a result, has accepted an invitation to attend the festival.

Also, the council has received confirmation that the Minister for Works and Housing, Tim Mander, will be in town for the Orange Festival.

Don Waugh The Orange Festival ball was well patronised, as usual, and was a great event.

The Minister will stay for the races and will attend a barbecue lunch at the Golden Orange Hotel on Sunday at noon.

This is open to all and a chance to meet him.

Tim will stay to referee the State of Oranges on Sunday night.

Before entering Parliament, Tim was a referee in the NRL.

He is here to talk about the future of the evacuation accommodation in the region.

I wish everybody a successful festival and look forward to good weather and great entertainment.
