Funds extend kids’ fun
MONTO Community Development Council’s children’s playgroup is set to benefit from a generous donation.
The town’s IGA supermarket has reached into its Community Chest fund to write a cheque for $250.
Monto IGA manager Peter Gibney said he wanted to donate to a cause with low funds so the playgroup fitted the bill.
“The playgroup had approached us with a letter of application and we thought this was a great idea,” Mr Gibney said.
“The Community Chest is our way of giving back to the communities who support us”
Playgroup co-ordinator Kathy O’Sullivan said MCDC was extremely grateful for this generous donation.
“This will be very useful,” Ms O’Sullivan said.
“Some of the possibilities under consideration include a sandpit, art and craft things and bats and balls.
“We try different activities for the children each week so anything to keep them active and amused is a positive.”
The playgroup operates each Wednesday 9.30–11.30am outside school holidays.
