North Bur­nett Land­care gets $19,500 grant

Central and North Burnett Times - - RURAL UPDATE -

MONTO-based North Bur­nett Land­care Group has re­ceived a $19,500 Jupiters’ Casino grant.

This was used to pur­chase a four wheel drive buggy and a spray rig.

Group pres­i­dent Glenn Baker said it would help make spraying ef­fi­cient and ef­fec­tive.

Land­care mem­bers in the area are also us­ing bi­o­log­i­cal con­trol tri­als on Cat’s Claw Creeper.

Tingid Bugs are sap suck­ing in­sects that host on the in­va­sive weed and 390 small colonies of the in­sect were re­leased.

“We will never be rid of th­ese in­va­sive weeds but we can con­tain the spread of them.”
