Monto nets a winner
St Therese’s comes out on top in energetic clash against Abercorn
IN THE spirit of small-school friendly rivalry, Abercorn State School hosted St Therese’s School, Monto, in netball.
Abercorn fielded players from Years 3 to 7 and St Therese’s Years 6 to 7. To make up the numbers Abercorn had some boys on their team while St Therese’s team was all girls.
Both teams played with great passion. Lani Pickering got the first goal to put the visitors in the lead.
St Therese’s were getting most of the points throughout the game but Abercorn never gave up.
Despite trailing eight goals to one at half time, Abercorn attacked the final two quarters to allow their opponents only two more goals.
Both teams were enjoying the competition so much that when the offer of playing past four quarters was put on the table, it was a definite yes.
After five fifths of a high-spirited game, St Therese’s was winner at 21–2.
