Pres­i­dent bows out af­ter big suc­cess

NAR­ALLE Em­mer­ton went out in style for her last year in charge of Gayn­dah’s largest event.

The pres­i­dent of the Or­ange Fes­ti­val com­mit­tee an­nounced that this was her last year as chief or­gan­iser.

The com­mit­tee put on a tutti fruitti car­ni­vale to re­mem­ber at the week­end with thou­sands of vis­i­tors in at­ten­dance.

Mrs Em­mer­ton said it was a fit­ting time to give the po­si­tion to some­one else and to go out with a bang.

fes­ti­val this year and I’d like to go out on a high,” she said. “I’d like to spend next fes­ti­val just be­ing able to re­lax and en­joy the fes­ti­val.”

The Or­ange Fes­ti­val com­mit­tee will hold an an­nual gen­eral meet­ing in Septem­ber, where a de­ci­sion will be made on the new pres­i­dent. “I think some­one else needs to stand up to the mark and have their turn,” Mrs Em­mer­ton said. “But I will al­ways be there ready to lend a hand.”

LAST DANCE: Or­ange Fes­ti­val pres­i­dent Narelle Em­mer­ton will hand the reigns over to a new face for the next fes­ti­val.
