Teen named as cham­pion all rounder

AN EX­CITED and happy Si­mon Kinbacher of Boompa was named cham­pion all rounder in the in­ter-school com­pe­ti­tion at the Rock­hamp­ton Show at the week­end.

Com­pet­ing against 90 chil­dren in the five ele­ments of the com­pe­ti­tion, the River­side Chris­tian Col­lege Year 10 stu­dent took out first in ju­nior pa­raders and in­ter­breed ju­nior heifer.

He was placed sec­ond in stud cat­tle judg­ing as well as sec­ond in the ju­nior light­weight led steer with his sis­ter Lucy’s bri­tish white steer.

In the prime cat­tle judg­ing he was placed fifth.

Af­ter suc­cess at other dis­trict and re­gional shows, Si­mon said he was con­fi­dent in his re­sults to do well.

“I thought I did pretty good,” he said.

For his ef­forts he won cloth­ing and feed vouch­ers.

He re­turns to Rock­hamp­ton in two weeks’ time for the ju­nior beef show.

“This will be sim­i­lar to last week­end’s event with pa­rader and judg­ing classes,” he said.

Si­mon will be tak­ing his led steer and led heifer along with him.

“Hope­fully I will be able to do as well as last week­end,” Si­mon said.
