What’s biting – where and on what
THE long weekend saw lots of jewfish along with some more big yellow belly. Caretaker Corey Goldie said the first winter bass was caught on lure.
OVER the weekend there was mainly bass and silver perch caught off the boat ramp. The dam’s caretaker Brett Powter said the bass were mainly caught with worms.
THE fishing is still really tough at the dam with only a few reports of fish being caught in the timbered sections on live bait. There are still red claw being caught.
FISHING is still tough, not much apart from the odd golden on lures. Dark spinnerbaits seem to be the go. Saltwater yabbies are going well with bait and the odd fish on a worm also.
BASS are being caught on slow rolled soft plastics and blades at Pelican Point, Queen St and the start of the timber at Kirkleagh. Red claw are being caught with rockmelon the standout as bait.
