Donation vital to keep Little As up and running
MONTO’S Little Athletics Club is the beneficiary of a generous donation from the town’s IGA supermarket.
Store manager Peter Gibney said he approached the club as it fitted the bill for a donation under the IGA Community Chest program.
This program is a fund from the sales of IGA branded products to be donated to non-profit community groups and organisations.
The club was given a cheque for $250, which will be put to use in general maintenance and running costs.
“In most towns and suburbs IGA does already sponsor the club and indeed has a strong connection with Little Athletics in general through sponsorship of major carnivals,” Mr Gibney said.
Club representative Mark Moscrop was very grateful for the support from a local business.
“This can be used for things like marking lines on the track and lowering fees,” Mr Moscrop said.
Monto Little Athletics Club has a come and try day on August 24 and sign-on day September 7.
