Star rid­ers ready for Sil­ver Buckle chal­lenge

MONTO will wel­come the best horse­men and women from around the re­gion and be­yond this week­end.

The an­nual Monto Sil­ver Buckle and Chal­lenges and Cam­p­draft will hit the show­grounds for three days start­ing to­mor­row. The event’s pub­lic­ity of­fi­cer, Stacey Hyland, said the sig­nif­i­cance of this year’s event was that it was one of four ma­jor chal­lenges in the in­au­gu­ral Aus­tralian Stock­man’s Chal­lenge.

The oth­ers are Aretha Rocky Rush in Rock­hamp­ton, Horse of the North at Char­ters Tow­ers and the Clon­curry Chal­lenge.

This is the first time a se­ries has been held to gain points for the over­all chal­lenge.

“This event will show­case the top horses and rid­ers from our re­gion,” Ms Hyland said.

“The North Bur­nett is home to some of Aus­tralia’s top horse­men and women.

“We en­cour­age the pub­lic to come out and sup­port their cham­pion lo­cal rid­ers.”

The event starts at 9am to­mor­row with free en­try and full cater­ing all week­end.

The fi­nals of the chal­lenges will be held on Satur­day.
