EIDSVOLD Eagles were too strong for Gayndah Gladiators in the game played at Eidsvold at the weekend, running out with a 46-20 victory.

Gayndah opened the scoring in both halves and the first 40 minutes gave fans of both teams plenty to cheer about.

However after a try in the 54th minute, the Gladiators were prevented from crossing the line again.

After this, Eidsvold went on a scoring spree, crossing for four unanswered tries.

Try scorers for Gayndah were: Brock Gray (2), James McNaught and Jeffrey Shadford. McNaught converted two of these tries.

Try scorers for Eidsvold were: Josh Pope (3), Ivan Collins, Jay Pope, Dylan Dodd, Cassius Collins and Stanley Bligh.

Dodd’s try was memorable as he ran 80m to score in the corner.

Bligh had a good day with the boot, converting seven of the Eagles’ eight tries.

Bligh is a talented 27-year-old 5/8 and has played the majority of his football for the Eagles.

He has represented Central Burnett Brumbies and Wide Bay Rangers this year, building on his 2012 Central Burnett Player of the Year award.

“Stanley is a great asset for the Eagles,” club secretary Peta Hills said.

“He not only works tirelessly on the field, but also off field.

“Stanley was one of the Eagles who helped the community through the recent flood crisis.”

TOUGH TACKLE: Eidsvold Eagles player Samuel Short is tackled by three Gladiators in the game played at Eidsvold at the weekend as Peter Williams and Ivan Collins look on.

Eidsvold's Stanley Bligh scores the first points for his side in their game against Monto earlier this month.

Matthew Chapman, Damien Jenkins and Dylan Dodd move into position after Cassius Collins and Dominic Pope pin down a Gladiator.

Eagles players Peter Williams, Dylan Dodd, Tyrell Collins, Joshua Pope and Cassius Collins block the Gladiators’ progress towards their line at Eidsvold.
