Volunteers thanked for tireless work

Central and North Burnett Times - - AROUND TOWN -

AS WE enter our second round of Sharing Information with the Monto community, we are able to speak of achievements and commitments.

I thank the staff at the Neighbourhood Centre for their co-operation.

Our volunteer day luncheon was a huge success. Thanks to all involved, especially the ladies at the Monto Bowls club, the Monto High School Band, the CDO and of course, the volunteers who actually made the reason for the day possible.

Congratulations to June Loader who received the North Burnett Volunteer of the Year award.

Thanks to Mayor DonWaugh who travelled to Monto the following week to congratulate June on behalf of the North Burnett Regional Council.

Monto has set the standard, who will be the recipient next year?

The CDO has also been busy with the Smart Program.

This is about providing transport for people from our community to attend medical appointments in larger centres.

The forms for this service are available at the Monto Family Medical Centre.

We have two visiting services working from the NHC at present.

We are engaged in talks with another five services that have indicated an interest in working out of an office in Monto to better service their clientele in this area.
