Lucy’s skills tested

Eidsvold girl kicks off a bright fu­ture in her favourite sport

EIDSVOLD’S Lucy Thomp­son con­tin­ues to im­prove her soc­cer skills and last week­end she put those skills to work when she played with the U17 Girls’ Bund­aberg Rep team in round one of the Wide Bay Cham­pi­onships.

The team won both games against Gympie and the sec­ond round will be played in July.

Thomp­son plays for Across the Waves in Di­vi­sion 1 Ladies this year and trav­els to Bund­aberg ev­ery Mon­day night for train­ing and on Fri­day for the games.

The Bur­nett State Col­lege stu­dent last year won a schol­ar­ship to at­tend an Amer­i­can col­lege and fur­ther her soc­cer af­ter she fin­ishes Year 12.

“I like play­ing soc­cer as you can meet new peo­ple and it also keeps me ac­tive,” she said.

“I'm hop­ing that this gives me greater achieve­ments in the fu­ture.”
