HOLIDAY time will become adventure time for kids.

An inflatable obstacle course and rock climbing wall are some of the activities on offer when New Life Centre hosts the Big Day Out.

Vertec Adventure owner Jessica Skerman will bring a week of excitement to Mundubbera, April 7–11.

Ms Skerman has been running adventure activities since 1997 and said the week was about creating change and purpose through adventure.

The drawcards may be the rock climbing wall and obstacle course, but kids come away with more than memories of a good time.

“It will be a day of encouragement,” she said.

“We often see changes in the kids from the start to the end of the day.

“For some, it will be a remarkable change where they come in and they are unaccepted by peers in scholastic or sporting environments, but the moment you get them up on a climbing wall, they face the challenges and it gives them a greater rapport with others.”

Ms Skerman said the different environment allowed kids to build relationships.

Along with forming stronger bonds with their peers, adventure helped kids to develop life skills.

“It will give them confidence and helps build great attitudes,” Ms Skerman said. “It involves team building and leadership skills and when kids face fear and overcome it they have a great sense of achievement.”
