Keeping tabs on stray stock

THE internet is the latest tool to warn motorists about wayward stock in the North Burnett.

A Facebook group, Stock on the Road North Burnett, will be set-up to inform drivers of stray stock.

Eidsvold resident Noel Thompson came up with the idea after hearing about a motorcyclist who was killed after a collision with a cow.

Always on the road himself, Mr Thompson has had a few near misses with stock and horses.

He decided to use the social network platform as a means of getting information out into the community.

Stock on the Road would provide a way for people to give and access information about animals on roads around the North Burnett.

“Facebook is the social media that has most people connected and I know that I use it every day,” Mr Thompson said.

“A group like this could help save a life and it could be something which could also help farmers know where their stock is.

“Not everyone has Facebook and some never will, but that is when someone makes an old fashioned phone call to the person who owns the stock.”

Mr Thompson will set-up the Facebook group, but is keen for input.

“Please let me know what your ideas are and what you think could make this work,” he said.
