Council back in swing
MONTO Community Development Council is moving on smoothly after the disruptions of last year.
The CSO Kevin Fox has been reinstated after being dismissed by some members of the previous committee.
The new council management committee consists of president Belinda Steger, vice president Derek Bound, secretary Belinda Knapman, treasurer Kathy O’Sullivan, ordinary committee member Narelle Kerr and a delegate representing Impact4Monto.
Some pre-established services such as the Montonians, Tai Chi, Card Group and Seniors Kiosk have been placed under one program title – 50 and Better Program.
Transportation to specialist medical appointments (SMART) is continuing.
Play Group each Wednesday morning on school days and a further new initiative, Morning Tea with the CSO, at the Neighbourhood Centre on Tuesdays 9.30am are popular. Upcoming events include:
Meals on Wheels workshop with Ms Karen Butler on April 22, with a presentation by Ms Denise Hodder from Alzheimer’s Australia
RSPCA EMU van will present an interactive display, hosted by MCDC and local sponsorship, at the Monto Show on April 26 and 27.
The MCDC ‘team’ would like to wish their CSO Kevin Fox a very happy 60th Birthday on April 10. SGM members are asked to bring a plate of nibbles to the Monto Neighbourhood Centre at 6pm that day.
