Coun­cil back in swing

MONTO Com­mu­nity De­vel­op­ment Coun­cil is mov­ing on smoothly af­ter the dis­rup­tions of last year.

The CSO Kevin Fox has been re­in­stated af­ter be­ing dis­missed by some mem­bers of the pre­vi­ous com­mit­tee.

The new coun­cil man­age­ment com­mit­tee con­sists of pres­i­dent Belinda Ste­ger, vice pres­i­dent Derek Bound, sec­re­tary Belinda Knap­man, trea­surer Kathy O’Sul­li­van, or­di­nary com­mit­tee mem­ber Narelle Kerr and a del­e­gate rep­re­sent­ing Im­pact4Monto.

Some pre-es­tab­lished ser­vices such as the Mon­to­ni­ans, Tai Chi, Card Group and Se­niors Kiosk have been placed un­der one pro­gram ti­tle – 50 and Bet­ter Pro­gram.

Trans­porta­tion to specialist med­i­cal ap­point­ments (SMART) is con­tin­u­ing.

Play Group each Wed­nes­day morn­ing on school days and a fur­ther new ini­tia­tive, Morn­ing Tea with the CSO, at the Neigh­bour­hood Cen­tre on Tues­days 9.30am are pop­u­lar. Up­com­ing events in­clude:

Meals on Wheels work­shop with Ms Karen But­ler on April 22, with a pre­sen­ta­tion by Ms Denise Hod­der from Alzheimer’s Aus­tralia

RSPCA EMU van will present an in­ter­ac­tive dis­play, hosted by MCDC and lo­cal spon­sor­ship, at the Monto Show on April 26 and 27.

The MCDC ‘team’ would like to wish their CSO Kevin Fox a very happy 60th Birth­day on April 10. SGM mem­bers are asked to bring a plate of nib­bles to the Monto Neigh­bour­hood Cen­tre at 6pm that day.
