Madison reigns supreme

Central and North Burnett Times - - GAYNDAH SHOW -

WHEN Madisen McGill went out into ring one she was determined to do her best.

On her horse Westlake Star Struck, also known as Jerry, the young rider came away with Supreme Juvenile Rider of the show.

Madisen, 11, has been riding since she was five and is a rising equestrian star.

She recently came back from the grand nationals in Sydney where she kept her cool to be awarded runner-up in the under 12 age group.

“It was my first time at the nationals and it was very big and they had English judges,” she said.

Madisen’s favourite class to compete in is the open pony.

“It’s fun and I like showing because I like getting dressed up and making the horses look beautiful,” she said.

“You have to plait them up and they have to be under lights so their coat doesn’t grow.

“The light has to be bright enough so that you can read a newspaper under it.”
