CLUB HELPS CAREFLIGHT
HOISTING doctors and paramedics down from the CareFlight helicopter to help people in need and winching people to safety has become a common sight.
These hoists are due for an overhaul and the Hoist Our Heroes project has received a boost with a $6925 donation from the Burrandowan Picnic Race Club west of Kingaroy.
“CareFlight is there for the community and so it is great to be able to give back from our community,” publicity officer Georgie Somerset said.
“This donation to CareFlight will speed up the process of overhauling the vital tool in our region.”
CareFlight south west region relationships manager Suzie Washington said the winch hoist was a vital tool for the service.
“It is used to lower CareFlight’s doctors and paramedics down to critically ill or injured patients who are trapped or stranded in locations that are inaccessible by ambulance or ground crews,” she said.
The Burrandowan Picnic Races attracts punters, fashionistas and families from right across south-east Queensland.
So if you are looking for a great day out in the Australian bush, take a look at the Burrandowan Picnic Races on Saturday, May 10.
The race track is 60km west of Kingaroy in the South Burnett.
A shuttle bus runs from Kingaroy and camping is available at the race track.
