BEST IN SPORT TO COMPETE
WARWICK will host one of the biggest events on the Australian polocrosse calendar when the Barastoc Interstate Series and Shell Cup competitions take place at Morgan Park this Easter weekend.
The Barastoc Series will feature 17 teams, with eight coming from Queensland and New South Wales and one from Victoria, while 65–70 club teams will compete in the Shell Cup.
Warwick Polocrosse Club president Les Fraser said only the Australian National Polocrosse Championships were a bigger event.
“It will be a huge weekend,” Fraser said.
“It’s only rivalled by the national championships in June.
“A lot of the states use the Barastoc Interstate Series to prepare for the national championships.”
Mr Fraser said the weekend would feature top-quality players.
“The interstate games contain some of the best players in the world,” he said.
“It’s an exciting sport.
“Spectators will get to see some really exciting polocrosse.”
As many as 3000 people and up to 800 horses are expected to descend on the Darling Downs for the weekend events.
The event begins with an 11.30am start on Good Friday before the club finals begin at 1pm on Easter Sunday.
