Little cowboy woos crowd

Central and North Burnett Times - - MT PERRY SHOW -

TWO-YEAR-OLD Jacob Ammann was an attraction in his own right at Saturday’s Mt Perry Show.

“People have been running up asking if they can take his picture all day,” mum Rita said during the show.

The little cowboy rode his horse, Mr Magic, in various under-9 competitions, where he was by far the youngest entrant.

Riding coach Debbie MacArthur has been instructing saddle classes for 20 years and said she had “never seen anything like him”.

“He is a little prodigy!” she said.

“We only started him in February and he can already handle all different sizes of horses.”

Jacob’s older sister Makayla, 7, was also competing on Saturday, astride her horse, Lucky.

“He wasn’t so lucky today though,” she said.

Jacob had a nap after lunch and was not pleased at all to be woken up for his afternoon events in the ring.

“Just wait…” mum said.

Sure enough, as he came trotting back after the lead-line barrel race Jacob’s face was brightly lit up with a smile.

“He is always happy when he’s on a horse,” Rita said.
