MONTO’S class of 2003 seems to have disappeared without a trace.

Jenny Kling, editor of a Monto State High School 50-year memorial magazine, has searched far and wide for a picture of any class from the year, without success.

“I’ve been through every cupboard at the high school and found a lot of other things, but not the kids from 2003,” she said.

“I can’t think of any reason why there wouldn’t be any!”

Russell Larson, who was a student in the high school’s opening year in 1964 has one hypothesis.

He thinks around 2003 the schools began taking individual photos, rather than the traditional full class or sports team photos.

“But I’m sure one proud mum or dad must have organised a picture at some stage,” he said.

Despite being three weeks behind on a publishing deadline, Mrs Kling is still hopeful pictures will surface.

“The Facebook page – I survived Monto State High School – is a great way to show the photos, and the community has been great so far helping me name everyone in the pictures we have so far,” she said.
