Auxiliary hopes to buy Sara-Stedy for elderly
BIGGENDEN Hospital auxiliary has high hopes its forthcoming tombola will raise enough funds to buy a special piece of equipment to benefit elderly patients. Registered nurse and auxiliary member Linda Fuller said the Sara-Stedy, costing $2100, was a proven mobility-promoting support aid that encouraged patients and residents to stand up independently.
“I saw the apparatus in use in rehab in Bundaberg while I was undertaking a course,” she said.
“I felt it was an ideal piece of equipment for our hospital, especially with our 11 long-stay aged patients,” she said.
The tombola will be held at the memorial hall on Saturday, July 19, with the doors opening at 8.30am.
Admission is $2 and includes morning tea and entry in the lucky door prize.
There will be a multi-draw raffle and a wonderful array of prizes.
