Brekky treat put to test for $500 prize

MARMALADE tra­di­tion­al­ists will be lin­ing up to taste Mun­dub­bera’s ver­sion of the break­fast ta­ble favourite.

They will be dip­ping their fin­gers into an in­ter­est­ing pot of in­gre­di­ents that just may “apeel” to the next gen­er­a­tion of marmalade lovers.

Mun­dub­bera Com­mu­nity Bank, in con­junc­tion with MasterChef, will over­see the Mun­dub­bera’s Most Mar­vel­lous Marmalade Com­pe­ti­tion at this weekend’s Taste of the Bur­nett Cel­e­bra­tion of Cul­tures.

With a prize of $500 be­ing of­fered for the cham­pion po­tion, it should at­tract plenty of sticky treats.

The gold medal­list on the day will also be en­ti­tled to 500x200ml bot­tles of their marmalade bot­tled by North Bur­nett Com­mu­nity En­ter­prises.

Judg­ing will be MasterChef style with mem­bers of the pub­lic pur­chas­ing three small spoons and three to­kens and af­ter tast­ing your favourite con­serve the to­ken will be used to vote.

With a prize of $500 be­ing of­fered, it should at­tract plenty of sticky treats.

A mys­tery judge with 50% of voting power will also con­trib­ute to the com­peti­tors tally.

All en­tries made only from lo­cal fruit will be lodged at the Bendigo Bank in Lyons St, Mun­dub­bera, by 5pm to­day and bot­tles of marmalade by 5pm to­mor­row. All prof­its will be re­turned to the com­mu­nity.
