Brekky treat put to test for $500 prize
MARMALADE traditionalists will be lining up to taste Mundubbera’s version of the breakfast table favourite.
They will be dipping their fingers into an interesting pot of ingredients that just may “apeel” to the next generation of marmalade lovers.
Mundubbera Community Bank, in conjunction with MasterChef, will oversee the Mundubbera’s Most Marvellous Marmalade Competition at this weekend’s Taste of the Burnett Celebration of Cultures.
With a prize of $500 being offered for the champion potion, it should attract plenty of sticky treats.
The gold medallist on the day will also be entitled to 500x200ml bottles of their marmalade bottled by North Burnett Community Enterprises.
Judging will be MasterChef style with members of the public purchasing three small spoons and three tokens and after tasting your favourite conserve the token will be used to vote.
With a prize of $500 being offered, it should attract plenty of sticky treats.
A mystery judge with 50% of voting power will also contribute to the competitors tally.
All entries made only from local fruit will be lodged at the Bendigo Bank in Lyons St, Mundubbera, by 5pm today and bottles of marmalade by 5pm tomorrow. All profits will be returned to the community.
