IN THE latest on Dave Holleran versus the Great Victoria Desert battle, Dave started running at 2pm on July 1 from Emu Junction and encountered a lot of sand dunes.

But he pushed through 64.9km on the first day.

He said day two brought a lot less sand and at the end of the day Dave had more than 130km behind him.

The third day brought more sand hills and desert terrain to overcome. Dave conquered 195.1km, with a marathon uphill sand track defeated by the end of the day.

Day four ended with 259.8km behind him. Dave said his “desert fitness is kicking in”.

At the end of day five and 336.9km behind him, Dave was now picking up the pace.

The team was unsure of its exact position at the end of day six but they are on track and are somewhere in Western Australia.

“From here it looks like better running conditions ahead and we are looking toward a Friday finish,” Dave said.
