TIM Chapman has travelled the world in pursuit of boxing excellence.
Chapman, who was born in Eidsvold 31 years ago, trained as a youth with Bruce Pope and has fought in Russia at the Arafura Games in 2011 and gained a silver medal at the Oceania Games in Fiji in 2001, where he boxed as a lightweight (57kg).
Carrying his natural talent with him, he has contended one professional fight and hopes for one more this year.
“I am training now in Eidsvold and I want to share my skills with anyone who wants to learn,” Mr Chapman
Tim Chapman I want to share my skills with anyone who wants to learn.
Working and training with Mr Chapman is Allan Everist, who has trained in muay thai kickboxing for 20 years and has had 30 professional fights in that genre.
“I drive in from Abercorn to the Eidsvold Christian Centre on Monday nights to demonstrate to anyone who wants to get fit or learn some self defence,” Mr Everist said.
“Women have been working with the men in the same classes but as numbers build there will be women’s classes at different times.”
Children have been starting at 5pm and the general class is from 6–7pm.
