Pharmacy offers kidney health test

Central and North Burnett Times - - DIABETES WEEK -

GUARDIAN Pharmacies at Mundubbera and Gayndah are committed to helping you understand your kidney health.

That’s why they are offering a world-first exclusive kidney home-test program.

KidneyCheck is the first Australian self-management program for people diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure.

Developed by Kidney Health Australia, this program allows you to conveniently check your urine for protein – one of the first signs of kidney damage.

Every day 54 Australians die from kidney-related diseases.

A person can lose up to 90% of kidney function before experiencing symptoms such as feeling nauseous, vomiting, loss of appetite, headaches, high blood pressure, shortness of breath and fatigue.

One-in-three Australian adults is at increased risk of kidney disease if they are 60 years or older, have diabetes, established heart problems or high blood pressure; are smokers or obese with a Body Mass Index of 30 or greater, or have a family history of the disease.

The facts on kidney disease are one of many professional services offered at Gayndah and Mundubbera Guardian Pharmacies.
