Mundubbera Butchering Co makes mincemeat of the competition

Tim Duggan and his team at Mundubbera Butchering Co have won Queensland Sausage King’s inaugural best burger award this year.

It was a long road for the butchers, with the state title coming on the back of top marks in regional competitions.
In Queensland, there are six regions considered for Sausage King, including Capricornia region, which covers the area throughout Bundaberg, north to Mackay and west to include the North Burnett.
Mr Duggan said there were 19 entrants in the North Burnett region and the winners within each of the six regions proceed to the state finals, which were held at the Brisbane Ekka grounds.
“This was the first year burger patties were included in the Sausage King Competition, so it was very special for our team to win,” he said.
Mr Duggan showcased his beef patties at the Mundubbera community’s Taste of the Burnett to rave reviews.
The Mundubbera team is no stranger to state competition, having won Queensland Sausage King in 2012 and also 2006.
The butchery’s 2006 pork sausage went on to take out the national competition.
