THOUGHTSWANTED ON DEVELOPMENT IDEA
Nursing home is proposed A BIGGENDEN man is gauging public interest for his grand idea for the former Biggenden Railway Station land.
Eddie Chandler said the land, part of Queensland Rail’s assets sell-off, would be ideal for a nursing home.
“At this stage it is just an idea and I am just seeking input from fellow businesses and the public about such a development.
“There would be employment for more than 100 people and add more than $1 million to the Biggenden economy.”
He said the area in the middle of the town was ideal for a 24-bed nursing home, including a secure six-bed dementia unit, two couple’s rooms and 16 general accommodation units. Mr Chandler said he would be attempting to gain funding on a state and federal level to complete the associated headworks for the project.
“This includes bulk earthworks, drainage, power, water and roadwork at an estimated cost of $3.5 million,” he said.
Mr Chandler will be putting the proposal to the North Burnett Regional Council’s meeting at Biggenden on August 5.
