Potential lies in horse and extreme sport events
SPORTS lovers hold big potential for the North Burnett tourism market.
North Burnett Regional councillors believe a big sports event could bring a huge boost to the economy.
“We should err towards horse sports and extreme sports, I think we are a prime location and have infrastructure for both these types of events,” Cr Faye Whelan said.
“With all our lakes, escarpments and national parks, extreme events like the Tough Mudder is an area we could definitely tap into more.”
A forum to be hosted by the Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation at 3.30pm on August 7 at Eidsvold’s RM Williams Centre will be a great opportunity for locals to have their say on the future of outdoor sports in the North Burnett.
