MONTO Cat­tle and Coun­try's Fort­nightly Fat and Store sale saw num­bers de­crease to 410 head.

The prime cat­tle yarded found slightly stronger par­tic­i­pa­tion while feeder cat­tle and weaner steers re­mained firm but lighter heifers from a lim­ited yard­ing were harder to place.

Braford cross bul­locks 590kg sold to 150c/kg or $890 and TJ and SL Clarke sold drought­mas­ter bul­locks 625kg to 145c/kg or $910.

Odd sin­gle heavy cows sold to 120c/kg or $780.

Robert Roth penned here­ford cows 587kg to re­turn $676 or 115c/kg.

Wayne Goody sold santa cows 534kg to re­alise 115c/kg or $615 and Rob and Sharon Ra­m­age sold brah­man cows to 115c/kg or $550.

Plain boner cows sold from 68c to 97c/kg.

Only smaller num­bers of heifers were yarded with the lead trade heifers top­ping at 145c/kg or $560 and older heifers sell­ing to $730 or 145c/kg.

DJ Zi­eth Cat­tle Co sold brah­man-cross No 3 steers 468kg to $713 or 152c/kg.

Reg and Di Kerle’s santa cross No 3 steers sold to $665 while Bob Schutt’s drought­mas­ter No 3 steers 423kg sold to $635.

Daphne Mor­gan, Kooroora, Mun­gungo, sold santa weaner steers to 160c/kg or $430.

Bruce and Sue Mikkelsen, Wiluna, char­brays and charo­lais, sold 262kg weaner steers to $406.

John Ca­ha­lane’s drought­mas­ter-cross weaner steers sold for $356 or 150c/kg and Peter Kirk­wood’s braford weaner steers 297kg sold to 152c/kg or $452.

Roy May’s mur­ray grey weaner steers sold for 157c/kg or $412.

Kev and AileenWy­atte sold char­bray 340kg No 3 heifers to 131c/kg or $447 and red brah­man heifers 340kg to $451.

Wiluna Char­brays sold char­bray weaner heifers to 121c/kg or $290.

Monto’s Next Fort­nightly Fat and Store sale will be held onWed­nes­day, Au­gust 6.

Don’t for­get Monto’s An­nual All Breeds Bull Sale com­ing up on Satur­day, Septem­ber 13, with 100 bulls cat­a­logued.


WITH one meat­works ceas­ing op­er­a­tions due to a break­down, meat­works cat­tle were cheaper over­all, while store cows were a lit­tle dearer at the meat­works and store sale at Biggen­den on July 21.

Bul­locks topped at 162.2c/kg for some two tooth bul­locks but sold from six to eight cents cheaper.

Heavy fat cows topped at 115c/kg to av­er­age seven cents cheaper while lighter store cows were three to 12 cents dearer.

Cres­cent Pas­toral Co, Biggen­den, sold cows for 115c/kg or $730/head.

Mait­land Bros, Boompa, sold li­mousin cows for 114.2c/kg or $605.

Not many trade heifers were yarded and av­er­aged seven cents cheaper.

Only a cou­ple of bulls were yarded av­er­ag­ing firm.

CJWesche, Bund­aberg, sold a char­bray bull for 134.2c/kg or $1140.

Some good qual­ity stores were yarded and prices were a lit­tle dearer through­out.

Steers 400-500kg didn’t reach the highs of the pre­vi­ous sale, although they av­er­aged slightly dearer.

RJ & KJ Pre­ston, Eidsvold, sold char­bray steers for 170c/kg or $763/head.

M, WJ and SM Camp­bell, Cordalba, sold drought­mas­ter steers for 165c/kg or $721/head.

Steers 300-400kg topped very close to the last sale, but av­er­aged eight cents dearer.

Laufer and Sons, Bund­aberg, sold bran­gus steers for 160.2c/kg or $619/head.

GR & TN Op­per­mann, Gayn­dah, sold brah­man steers for 157.2c/kg or $607/head.

The lead of the weaner steers yarded were very good qual­ity top­ping at 181.2c/kg to av­er­age 14 to 21 cents dearer.

Paul Hof­stet­ter, Mor­ganville, sold char­bray weaner steers for 181.2c/kg.

Chess Park, Eidsvold, sold drought­mas­ter weaner steers for 177.2c/kg or $438/head.

Only 66 heifers were yarded in the 300-400kg range and were of very mixed qual­ity and av­er­aged seven cents cheaper.

Some good qual­ity weaner heifers were also yarded and av­er­aged one to six cents dearer.

Paul Hof­stet­ter, Mor­ganville, sold char­bray weaner heifers for 129.2c/kg or $300/head.

R and JF John­son, Bund­aberg, sold char­bray weaner heifers for 130c/kg or $364/head.

Eight cows and calves were yarded top­ping at $440.

The 1252 head were drawn from Eidsvold, Mun­dub­bera, Mt Perry, Gayn­dah, Boouby­jan, Bells Bridge, Thee­bine, Thi­noomba, Beelbi Creek, Her­vey Bay, Howard, Childers, Good­wood, Bund­aberg, South Kolan, Bucca, Yan­daran, Rosedale, Lowmead, Miriam Vale, Gin Gin, Booyal and all lo­cal ar­eas.

Next meat­works and store sale is Mon­day Au­gust 4.

Bur­nett Live­stock & Realty’s Lance Whi­taker with drought­mas­ter cross EU weaner steers on ac­count of Chess Park, Eidsvold. The steers sold for 177.2c/kg or $438/head.
