THE minor rugby league semi-final played in Theodore on Saturday gave Gayndah Gladiators a 44-28 victory against the Theodore Roosters.

Locked at 28-all at full-time, the match went into extra time to decide the winner. At the end of the first 10 minutes, a penalty goal to the Gladiators yielded the only points, and the final 10 minutes saw the Gladiators run in three tries.

The match started with Theodore having ball possession and territory advantage, but their game slipped with some loose passes.

However, they gained cohesion to score in the 10th minute and crossed soon after to lead 10-nil.

The trend of the game turned as the Gladiators started to fire and posted tries to Jaybin Pearce and Blake Popp.

The next period was a see-sawing and evenly contested affair; however, Gayndah broke the deadlock with a grubber kick for Jeff Kenny to score.

Theodore equalled the score before the break.

The Roosters posted the first points to take the lead 20-16 in the second half.

Gayndah grabbed the lead minutes later to reach 24-22. With time ticking away Theodore scored to lead 28-24, and Gayndah regrouped to notch a try to level 28-28 at full-time.
