A grand final that’s been 31 years in the making
The last time the two foes met in a grand final it was decided in the final seconds, now Gayndah and Mundubbera are set for the showdown of the season
GAYNDAH PLAYERS TO WATCH:
Blake Popp is a hard-running fullback who consistently joins the back line very effectively. His ability to attack is only equalled by his strong defensive record.
Ben Kenny is a young dynamic player. His free-running style could take the Tigers by surprise. His ability to read the play
always seems to put Kenny in the right place at the right time.
Mat Dent’s ability to run onto the ball from set plays and to back up his teammates sets him apart. His tackle count is always there at the top.
MUNDUBBERA PLAYERS TO FEAR:
Dan Augustine is a local who grow up in Mundubbera. He is as big as
a front rower and runs like a winger. Hard-hitting, he will come back no matter what you hit him with.
Danyan Van Merlo is probably the Tigers’ best player this year. He will never give an inch. The strength of his running in open play makes him one of the hardest players to tackle in the league.
Keniti Filiai is the nicest guy you would ever want to meet, unless he is your opposite number on a football field. Hard tackles are what Filiai has for breakfast and he runs with his head and knees high. There will not be a better player on the field Saturday afternoon and if there is, he will be man of the match.
Bert Beezley (captain coach). 30yo. Directs play and has the team performing at their best while he is on the field.
Jacob Kimber, 23. Back to good form at right end of the season. Found openings out wide in the last few games.

Troy Kimber, 25. Manager of the team who has played most of the season and stepped aside to let other players have a game.
Josh Allan, 22. Only played occasional game prior to this season. Has surprised many with his performances.
Greg Cross, 23. Came into the side late in the season. Can hit hard and have some damaging rucks while coming off the bench.
Ben Allan, 23. Local lad played most of his football at boarding school in Rockhampton. Safe fullback who has starred this year.
Neil Reinke, 36. Has been one of the best wingers in the competition and always gives a 100%. An inspiration to the younger players.

Jack ComboWest, 18. Brumbies junior solid in defence, directs play around the ruck and always backs up in support.
