TUESDAY’S combined agents sale in Murgon saw numbers back to 650.
The market for feeder types was firm on the last sale and some improvement was noticeable in the cow market.
Lesser quality, light conditioned weaner steers and heifers were still difficult to market.
Cattle were drawn from Mundubbera, Gayndah, Mt Perry, Biggenden, Kingaroy and locally.
Charbray bullocks from Murgon sold to $901 at $1.55/kg and $931 at $1.51/kg.
Bulls topped at $931 and $1.43/kg.
The heaviest cows topped at $848 for $1.22/kg.
Santa cows from Manumbar sold to $686 at $1.13/kg.
Droughtmaster cows from Murgon sold for $1.15/kg to return $665.
480kg charolais cows from Gayndah sold to $551 at $1.14/kg.
Lighter cows sold mainly from 80c/kg to $1/kg.
515kg charbray steers from Murgon sold to feedlotters for $849 at $1.65/kg.

John Dent sold 517kg brangus cows to 111.2c/kg or $575.
Store cows sold from 75c/kg to 95c/kg while trade heifers sold from 133 to 140c/kg or $690.
T Cogzell sold charolais no 3 steers to 165c/kg or $665.
Barry and Ev Power yarded santa no 3 steers 432kg to return $700 or 162c/kg and Ross Graving, Lowmead, sold brahman no 3 steers 410kg to $650 or 158c/kg.

Lurline Graving sold a run of brangus and brahman cross no three heifers 280-320kg which sold from 123 to 154c/kg and averaged 137c/kg.
WJ Gray sold charbray no 3 heifers to 140c/kg or $430.
Neville and Jenny Keitley sold charbray heifers 236kg to $356 or 135c/kg and weaner heifers to 147c/kg or $310.
Richy Bowman’s charbray cross weaner heifers sold to 140c/kg or $295.
Monto’s next fortnightly sale is set down for Wednesday, August 20, and will be followed by the Annual Spring Store Sale on Wednesday, September 3.
Catalogues for the all breeds Bull Sale on Saturday, September 13, will be available from August 20.
