A LUCKY set of hands, a kind heart and a cluey head have brought Tom Lynn a lot of success when it comes to crafting and finding gemstones.

The former Monto resident has won numerous Australia-wide lapidary competitions and travelled to the Central Queensland Gem Show last weekend to reconnect with old friends and his favourite hobby.

“I’m just a very everyday sort of guy with a lucky set of hands,” he said.

“And he is very smart upstairs,” Mr Lynn’s wife Doreen said, with a smile.

Mr Lynn now lives up at Cawarrel and said he did not spend as much time fossicking these days.

“But I will never lose my passion for rocks,” he said.

“I’ve travelled and met a lot of friends.”
