Gayndah wants to merge with Bundaberg YMCA
YMCA Gayndah has given the green light to a merger with YMCA Bundaberg, after a $9000 increase to its annual licence fee threatened its future.
The decision to remain with the YMCA brand was made on Tuesday night after a discussion between YMCA Gayndah board members and YMCA Bundaberg’s senior representatives.
Bundaberg president Ross Peddlesden said his club stood ready to help as the brand was “worth every cent”.
YMCA Australia’s decision to increase fees for member clubs and eliminate concessions meant YMCA Gayndah’s $1000 annual fee skyrocketed to $10,000.
Gayndah president Dael Giddins said a merger was the club’s first choice as the brand had a lot to offer, including established policies, procedures and discounted insurance.
