Central and North Burnett Times - - VOICE OF THE BURNETT -

THE government’s announced policy on conditions on unemployment benefits is not helpful in stemming the drift of young job seekers from country areas.

Country towns are losing enterprising youth to larger industrial centres and the new initiatives with all the repercussions for business and the community will hasten this exodus.

Eidsvold this year did not have enough young athletes to field a rugby league team, and the tennis courts remain idle.

By all means our young people should have opportunities to travel, to learn, work and study and the authorities and all of us should provide the environment to encourage them to return.

Richard Roth, People For Eidsvold
