We’ve waited a long time
Mundubbera Tigers president’s report:
THE Gayndah/Mundubbera grand final certainly boosted interest in rugby league in the southern part of the Central Burnett.
The Tigers were improving and they started to have the same team together for a few games.
The boys bonded well as a team with a lot of hard work and they started to enjoy each training session.
Attendance at training had been excellent and that showed on game days.
We knew we would have a tough game against the Gladiators who had played five weeks in a row including two knockout games.
We had only three games with easy wins.
We would have preferred a dry track. Our big forwards had trouble in the sloppy conditions.
I was still pretty confident with 10 minutes remaining leading 28-20 when we looked like scoring until an intercept turned the boys around.
In the final few minutes I had a flashback to the 1983 grand final when we led by three points and lost the game in the last minute.
I was pleased to see the town get behind the team and appreciated the businesses that decorated their shops.
We’ve been waiting a long time for this win and now the drought has been broken.
