Lyn Taylor

LYN described the Calico Girly Night In last week as a “real escape”. “Getting women away from the grindstone and having a chance to put your mind in a different place is really important,” she said. While Mrs Taylor only lost fences during the 2013 flood, she said it still brought a lot of extra work and stress to her life. “You had to think about things like going to chase the cattle because they were eating the neighbour’s lucerne,” she said, with a laugh. “People can just come and sit here and it’s like a holiday, no distractions.” And Mrs Taylor’s work is good for the soul: when she isn’t chasing rogue cattle around, she makes patchwork quilts for sick children. “Generally the only way I find out about the kids is from word-of-mouth, then I make them a quilt,” she said. “I give them away faster than I can make them!”
