BARBARA Baker said there was no way she could drive past acres of trees pushed over during the 2013 floodwaters at Ceratodus and not be affected.

“Sometimes I even burst out in tears; you can just see so vividly what the people there must have been through,” she said.

Although Mrs Baker was affected herself by the 2013 floods, she said the hardest ordeal was hearing the more traumatising tales from her fellow Gin Gin residents.

“I can feel so much for what these people went through,” she said.

“But I definitely think the best thing people can do to help each other is to listen to each other, and just be there.”

She said being a part of the Calico’s Girls Night In at Monto last weekend, where ladies came together for a weekend of arts and crafts, was an excellent way to reconnect with her friends.
