Prize­money ex­pected to draw record en­tries

MT PERRY’S an­nual art ex­hi­bi­tion is ex­pected to be the big­gest on record af­ter prize­money was dou­bled to $7000 and a sec­tion added. Gallery direc­tor Shelley Kelly said the 20th an­nual ex­hi­bi­tion had at­tracted about 200 more en­tries across sec­tions, with the new ac­quis­i­tive sec­tion be­ing “a won­der­ful coup”. Made pos­si­ble by Evo­lu­tion Min­ing’s $2000 do­na­tion, lo­cal and vis­it­ing artists have painted lo­cal iden­ti­ties, build­ings, land­marks and land­scapes. “The art ex­hi­bi­tion has 12 sec­tions which cater to most forms of art,” Shelley said. Fri­day’s launch at 7pm will be opened by gen­eral man­ager of Evo­lu­tion Min­ing’s Mount Raw­don op­er­a­tion at Mt Perry, Mark Boon. Art will be on sale at the gallery un­til 1pm on Sun­day, Septem­ber 7.
