King hopes to reign in five-race program

Trainer hopeful ahead of meet

Central and North Burnett Times - - MONTO RACES -

MULTIPLE Monto Cup-winning trainer Norma King has nominated horses in four of the five races in Monto this Saturday.

“I don’t usually have bad luck up there,” Ms King quipped.

“Usually the track is pretty good, but this time I’m not sure how much rain they have had.”

King hopes to take Hidden Duck (Race 3), Fiscal Cliff (Race 4), Delightsome (Race 5), and one of the favourites from her stable, Flight Command, for the first race of the day

“He (Flight Command) only got beaten by half a length last week in Rockhampton,” she said.

“He has been pretty consistent.

“Hidden Duck is having his first run back in quite a while.

“Fiscal Cliff, we started him on Saturday (at Talwood) but it was too short for him.

“We knew it was short but we had to give him a run.”

King said to have a second race meeting in Monto for the year was only a good thing for horse racing in Queensland.

“A lot of country horses are racing now, and a lot more apprentices are coming through,” she said.

“Apprentices have to have somewhere to start out.”
