Tractor drivers enjoy trek

Central and North Burnett Times - - MONTO DAIRY FESTIVAL -

WITH 289km stamped into their tyres, Monto’s first ever bunch of tractor trekkers rolled back into town on Friday afternoon.

The eight tractors and 20 participants spent three days chugging from Monto to Mulgildie to Mungungo, and everywhere in between.

“You get time to see everything. There’s so much you miss driving a car at 100kmh, even when you’ve lived here for years,” organiser Greg Williams said.

Bill Scott had the honour of driving their Festival Ambassador Taylor Laney in his 1962 Chamberlain for the parade, and said it was the icing on the cake after a top couple of days.

“I saw about six emus strutting along yesterday. I think travelling by tractor is the only way you can really take everything in,” the former Brisbane electrician said.
