Three minutes to win glory

Central and North Burnett Times - - COMMUNITY NEWS -

THREE minutes is all it takes to sell every school a cow and solve which came first – the chicken or the egg.

Eighteen Year 6 and 7 students gave three-minute speeches at North Burnett’s lecturette competition.

The 2013 winner, Eva Wallis from Mundubbera, and Gayndah’s Caitlin Goldie tied for first place with their poised deliveries.

Eva’s plea to combat child exploitation came after she saw a “bit too graphic” news photo.

Caitlin Goldie showed public speaking wasn’t scary – if one started early.

Her key tips – learnt from her dad and lecturette organiser Andrew Goldie – were “talk, be heard, relax and have fun”.

The North Burnett Lecturette Competition will be an annual event.
